Artist's Comments

Here is the finished version of the last piece I put up. It's fan art for :iconkaralora:'s EXCELLENT Disneyland fanfic called Crowns of the Kingdom. I cheated on Mickey because I really couldn't fit him into the composition the way I planned. There wasn't enough foreground to put him in the pose I would have liked. I think I will be working on another few pics as the story progresses, and at least one more for this scene, showing the despair on Mickey's face...Maleficent was fun to paint, but she is so small in the composition that even working at 600 dpi I couldn't give her much detail.

So...uhm...Mickey, Maleficent, Sleeping Beauty's Castle all belong to Disney. No executives were harmed in the production of this profitless fanart.

It looks great! I can't tell you how awesome it feels to see my story illustrated so vividly.

I'm really glad you like it. The story really captured my attention, and it jibes with my interests and passions.

Here's the thing. Even when I was a little girl, I always thought there must be more to Disneyland than just get in line, wait, ride the ride, wait in another line, ride another ride, eat a churro, repeat until totally exhausted. If that's all you're after, you might as well go to Knott's Berry Farm, which is right up the highway and only half as expensive. There's something about Disneyland that goes way beyond the level of a mere theme park. It has a mythology all its own.

I look forward to seeing more for this fanfic. Maybe it'll finally get my creative juices flowing. Expecially considering how I've been following it up to date this whole time.

Sorry it took me so long to reply...it's been a bear of a week. Not only does it have a mythology of it's own, but it presents opportunities around every corner, to participate in your own adventure. As a kid I bought it...I totally bought it. The magic of Disneyland was never lost on me. I get really upset when I see some bonehead parent ruining Disneyland for their kids...from running full force to do every ride when the kid is begging to just slow down and see everything, to screaming obscenities at them and smacking them for having a melt down when it's the natural reaction to being over tired, over stimulated and rushed around. I can understand the mentality to some degree...with as much as people spend on a trip to the resort they want their money's worth...but I think they should really redefine what that means to them. Sorry...what a strange tangent to have stumbled into.
